LUMBERTON — The summer break is coming to a close and the Public Schools of Robeson County is again inviting students to attend the annual Back to School Celebration.

The event, which will take place from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday,at the Southeastern Agricultural Center on U.S. 74, is estimated to attract more than 18,000 students, parents, volunteers and employees from across the county.

Attending students will be given free school supplies, including book bags, paper and parent study assistant books.

The event is also notable as an opportunity for students and parents to meet with a representative from their school district.

According to Tasha Oxendine, Public Relations officer for the school system, the event is a great opportunity to see students interacting with principals and teachers before the daily rigor of school actually begins.
