Car and bike ride: The American Cancer Society Relay for Life and Fuller’s Old Fashion Barbeque will hold a “Ridin’ for Relay and Crusin’ for a Cure” car and bike ride. Registration will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the parking lot of Big Lots on Roberts Avenue in Lumberton. Cars and bikes will take separate routes to Luther Britt Park shelter B. The registration fee is $15 for bikes and $20 for cars, which includes one meal ticket and entry into all prize drawings. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life of Robeson County. Moonlit canoe trip: The Lumber River State Park will hold a guided moonlit canoe trip down the Lumber River at 9 p.m. The meeting point will be at the Princess Ann Access Area. Youth triathlon: The Tri-Warriors Triathlon Club will hold a Youth Triathlon at 8 a.m. at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Singing competition: The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater will hold its “My Time to Shine” singing competition, open to solo artists, groups and bands. The video submission period ended on June 30. The top 10 artists will perform in a judged showcase on Aug. 24. The artist with a combination of the highest votes and ticket sales wins the competition. The top two finalists will then get their own performance (as headliner and opener) on Nov. 9 at the theater. Art exhibition: The Expo Cultural Center/AIR Gallery in Rowland will hold the eatures the art work of local artists Sandi Carter; Deb Guess; Karena Kimble-Locklear; Timmie Locklear; Pattie Speights and Scotty Thompson in an exhibit called “A Mixed Media Journey.” The exhibit will be displayed until Sept. 30 and gallery hours are Mondays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m.

Labor Day celebration: The Robeson County Training School -R.B. Dean Alumni Association will hold an Old School Dance from 8 to 11 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the Maxton Resource Center. Labor Day sale: A Labor Day sidewalk sale will be held from 7 a.m. to noon in downtown Fairmont. Vendors and stores will have bargains for sale and Tomboys Vending truck will have food for sale.
