Scott Billingsley, left, of the Robeson Road Runners, presents a check for $5,000 to the Girls on the Run program in Robeson County. The money was raised during the annual Chevy to the Levee.. This money will be used to offset the cost of the Girls on the Run (Grades 3-5), Girls on Track (grades 6-8) and Stride (targeting boys in grades 4-5) programs in Robeson County. The initial fall program was initiated at Littlefield Middle School. The program will expand to two more schools in Robeson County. The mission of the organization is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident by using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Through interactive activities such as running, playing games, and discussing important issues, participants in the 10-week program learn how to celebrate their unique and real selves. For additional information on the schools offering the programs in the upcoming session, beginning in February, please contact Monica McVicker, 910-671-3274.
