FAIRMONT — A 21-year-old Fairmont man was killed and two other people suffered gunshot wounds Monday morning.

Fairmont police, responding to a 1:56 a.m. 911 call about a shooting, found Jaron Blue, of 1406 Atkinson Road, dead inside of a 2010 Dodge Charger parked on Liberia Street, according to Sheriff Kenneth Sealey.

The two wounded men were also found inside the car.

Sealey said that Hykeem Jamel Stephens, 20, of Stephens Street, Fairmont, was shot in both legs and was taken to a hospital. Fred Faulk, 21, of Mulberry Street, Fairmont, suffered an injury to his hand. It was unclear if he required any medical treatment.

Sealey said Fairmont police discovered that the shooting actually happened outside of the town on Howard Circle, about three miles from where the victims were found. Fairmont police then turned the investigation over to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sealey said investigators seized the vehicle and are waiting on the results of an autopsy.

No one has been arrested, but Sealey said “at least” one or two people of interest have been identified.

“We’re still digging,” Sealey said. “We will hopefully have some answers soon.”

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Sheriff’s Office with this case.

In an unrelated case, the shooting death of a 30-year-old Lumberton man that happened last week is still under investigation, according to Sealey.

Danny Ray Oxendine, of 219 Riley Circle, was found dead from a gunshot wound Dec. 14 in front of a mobile home on Taffy Drive in Rowland.

A witness told investigators that Oxendine was standing outside of a mobile home that his father was remodeling at 233 Taffy Drive when Hurbert Jones Jr., 34, of 117 Taffy Drive asked him to leave his property.

Oxendine told Jones to “step outside and handle it like men” and an altercation began between the two, according to a sheriff’s report.

The report said that Jones, who was armed during the altercation, told deputies that Oxendine was pointing a gun at him.

Two guns were found laying on the ground near Oxendine’s body, according to the report.

Jones has not been charged in Oxendine’s death, but has been charged with possessing a firearm as a felon, according to Sealey. He was being held at the Robeson County jail under a $10,000 bond.

The place where the shooting was supposedly happened is known for drugs and prostitution. This is the third killing in that area.

I knew Moe too. He was a good person, but he also had his fault, which a person can not blame on his rising. A person can be raised by both parents or one parent and still do his/her own thing when they grow up or are with other people. As parents we raise our children the best we can, whatever choice or path he/she chooses after then is their choice. Nobody knows why this senseless killing occurred except the one who did it and the victims. Lets keep the Blue family in our prayers.

Not having a father has nothing to do with the way a person acts. Those are excuses for the behavior. I don't hear anyone talking about the wives that come up missing. What about the men that kill the entire family? So it's not just an issue with African Americans. Come on...I agree that they haven't been taught how to be a man. There's no excuse for the senseless murders.

I know both victims Jaron "Moe" Blue was like my lil brother and it saddens me to know that ppl are blaming this his father being in the picture and his father not being in the picture. Regardless of how he grew regardless of where he grew makes no didference his death shouldnt of happened. Instead of blaming this or that for his death why dont yall send out your thoughts and prayers for our "his" family!!!

Im not gonna bad mouth the guy that was killed but I will say this. On Feb 2nd 2008 Danny Ray Oxendine killed a very close friend of mine. He didnt get charged for killing someone basicly cause Rob Co's finest(Law inforcement) did not like the victim. The only thing he got charged with was firearm by felon 36months probation. KRAMA WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!!!!

R.I.P Jaron "MOE" Blue

As much as we say we wish that everyone would just pray for the violence to end, I don't see that happening. As a Christian myself, I know the power of prayer, but I also know the power of a made up mind. When these people have their minds made up that they are going to do whatever it takes, no matter how drastic or inappropriate, that is normally what happens. People have to stop leaving it all up to Jesus, and use the knowledge that he is giving us to do things to help to improve situations. I dont personally know the victim, but I know that his family is probably a Christian family, who prays. The person who decided they were going to do this had a made up mind, and they decided that they wanted to take a life... Simple as that, they see death as such a natural part of life, they dont mind taking someone else's life away, and thats is sad. I will still continue to pray for this family

Prayer? Your solution is prayer? Get real. "Tellingitlikeitis" is spot on. PERIOD.

Man you all are writing like death has a color.....it doesn't. Crime is everywhere it is all origins. I have compassion for every soul, the good and the bad.....everyone need to stop making excuses about this child didn't have this or this child didn't have that......but they do have free will and that's where your differences come in at. Stop blaming and start praying for this world!

Where is the outcry? Where are the solutions? Why are we having this senseless acts of violence occurring so frequently in the African American communities. The answer is quite simple. Fathers (real fathers) have stepped out of these young men's lives and they are left to figure out what it means to be a "MAN", which is most often perceived by these young men as being a thug, gang banger, pot head, womanizer, etc. Young African American Males killing themselves, for what? MANHOOD, because no one has ever told them what is required of a "REAL MAN"............

This is terrible... I left RobCo over 10 years ago, and it seems like every 3 months something like this is happening, and its just senseless. Our people are killing each other over the craziest things. Something needs to be done about all this killing thats going on there... Until something happens to stop it, we can count on a news stories like this all too often.
