MAXTON — Seven Maxton men have been charged in what police are calling a gang-related Sept. 2 shooting at a Maxton convenience store that injured two people.
Yolanda Dixon and Tyreek Clark, 18, both of Maxton, were shot during a fight that resulted in a riot outside of the Minit Shop at 207 Middle St., according to Maxton police Lt. Jamie Oxendine. Clark was shot in his right foot and Dixon, whose age was not available, was shot while sitting in a car outside of the store.
They were taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital and were treated and released, according to Oxendine.
“We basically had an all-out riot between what we believe to be two gangs,” Oxendine said. “The fight actually started at the front door and carried out in the parking lot, where they started firing at each other.”
The following were charged:
Marquis Rollerson, 19, is charged with two counts of felony riot, shooting into an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm in the city, injury to personal property and going armed to the terror of the public, according to Oxendine. His bond is set at $350,000.
Patrick McManus, 19, Daquan Smith, 22, and Taiwan Smith, 24, are each charged with felony riot. The bond for each was set at $100,000 each.
Jameel Smith, 20, is charged with felony riot and going armed to the terror of the public. His bond was set at $200,000.
Marcus Bethea, 23, and Shakeem Smith, 25, are each charged with two counts of felony riot, going armed to the terror of the public and discharging a firearm in the city. Bethea’s bond was set at $200,000, and Smith’s bond was set at $100,000.
Oxendine said warrants have been issued for three others.
That just killed anything else you could have said.
If for one second you think that Lumbees and Whites don't commit as many crimes you're wrong.
Lately they have flooded this paper with crimes..which you and the others choose not to comment on.
I don't know what other papers you read..but it's clear you only read this one for the articles on Blacks.
Ross..you've made it clear that you don't live in the Black community. So whats your concern? When you only have negative things to say about all Blacks. Be they Councilmen, Teachers, or criminals.
In my post I must'hv went over your head when I addressed some other issues economics and education. They to are part of the issues that causes the crime in RobCo.
Maybe you should'hv said that the people in RobCo are tired of the crime in the County period. Be it by a Black, White, or Indian.

Whenever there's a story about anyone Black it's attacked in negative manners. Then some people try to act as if their experts on the Black Race and the Black Community.
But in the Last few days there were articles about a murderer who happened to be White. And a Lumbee drug dealer who appeared to be a major part of the drug problem in RobCo. And the comments were minimal. That say's alot to us all if you just look at that fact.
Is this how you want your kids to grow up and think? (as you all have or do)
Their already academically challenged. They don't have to be morally or ethically challenged as well.
Crime is crime!! So kill the prejudice and create the birth of education and economics in RobCo.
Because after all...you all have to live, shop, play, work, go to church,...etc with peolpe of all races and colors wheather you like it or not!!
If this amount of crime was being commited by overweight fat people, then we'd say "there sure is a lot of crime being commited by fat people"... But... since it's black people are we not to say anything? Hmmm? You tell me, what do we say??? Please advise us.

The Maxton Police were just doing their job. THERE IS NO EXCUSE for shots fired, fighting, and such. I don't give a rip who is related to who. Aren't we all related, if you go back to Adam and Eve?
What a total joke people like you are, defending this animal behavior. Until you, and others like you and these boys realize that violent behavior is not to be tolerated, and WILL be punished, you will get nowhere in life. Trying to put the blame on someone else is the standard racist tactic theses days, but that dog don't hunt anymore.
If you care anything about your "cousins" you will try to get them to realize that they live in a civilized society, and not the jungle, and to act like humans instead of animals. Try to get them into the Church, where they can learn the laws of God, and learn from Jesus to love their fellow man and turn the other cheek instead of fighting and shooting at him.
Please get your head out of your posterior and grow up, before you end up just like them. People don't hate blacks, indians, whites, etc. People hate scummy behavior, no matter what color it comes in.
What do you mean "they want minorities to live ignorant and prolong(?) us to prisons"? Minorities have the same if not more opportunities to advance in this great nation... Me and my wife did and we are minorities(so what). Look at all the successful minorities in this county. It's just so many in your community are bound by some hip-hop drug infested culture that makes excelling in life to be "actin white"... So go ahead and sit there angry and believe the government is keeping you down and let life pass you by. The blacks have the highest un-employment(with the first black president) in the nation, even behind illegal mexicans and a lot of them can't even speak english, so what in the world is the excuse in the black community. If it's racism why would they hire mexicans, asian, indians, and any other minority race then?
What you need to be angry at is staring at you in the mirror...
If any of the so called black leaders would actually step forth and try to do something about crime, illegitacy, broken families, welfare and work in the black community, you would find that they would be hailed as a hero by all races.
I'm sure that you think I'm some cracker who hates blacks, but I'm Indian, and I see this mess in my race as well. And its got to stop or this whole country is going to go in the ditch.
God gives us rules to live by - don't kill, don't steal, get married and care for your OWN family, work, and be kind to others. All of these men will have to stand before their creator some day and answer for what they have done with their lives, and you will as well.
So get the chip off your shoulder and try to do something positive for your race and the community.
What isitreal is saying is that if there were more consequences to garbage and animal behavior like this, then it would come to a screeching halt. Hey moron, there is nothing that you can reasonably say that will justify a bunch of chimps gone wild running around at a convenience store playing shoot 'em up. I'm just glad that they were the only ones who got hurt in this case. A stray bullet could have gotten a child or some other innocent person.
Find these punks guilt, throw away the key, and put them to picking up trash on the side of the road until they are about 70 years old ...then think about letting them out. At least that many will be taken out of circulation. And yes, I certainly don't mind my tax money being used for this. While they didn't murder, they intended to murder, so they should be getting life in jail.
Stick their sorry azzes in a tent with a cot, and no TV, and let them pick up trash if they want to work out, or break rocks like in the old days.
That would be some real reason for the thugs and punks to reconsider there actions for a change.
