LUMBERTON — Two workshops on baking with whole grains will be at 6 p.m. today and Oct. 29. at the O. P. Owens Agriculture Center in Lumberton.

The cost to attend is $3 and participants must register. Refreshments will be served.

LUMBERTON — The Eastern Carolina Cattlemen’s Conference begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Duplin County Event Center in Kenansville.

PEMBROKE — The Robeson Farm Bureau BioAg Symposium will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Biotechnology Research and Training Center at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

On the agenda are: forestry and the farm, global positioning systems, organic food production, increasing farm production, honey bees, practical seed and plant tissue culture, advancements in biofuels, impact of farming on natural resources and viticulture.

LUMBERTON — There will be a farm taxation issues workshop from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Oct. 30 at the O. P. Owens Agriculture Center in Lumberton.

RALEIGH — Organic growers can apply for partial reimbursement of the certification or re-certification costs accrued after Sept. 30.

The program will pay 75 percent of the cost, up to $750. The deadline to apply is Sept. 30, 2010, and money is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
