PEMBROKE — Pembroke’s assistant police chief has been placed on a three-day suspension without pay, according to Town Manager Oryan Lowry.
Lowry cited confidentiality laws in saying he could not tell what led to the suspension of Lt. Dwayne Hunt. He said Hunt has had no previous disciplinary action taken against him during his 23 years on the force. Hunt declined to comment on the suspension, which began on Thursday.
In July, Hunt told The Robesonian he planned to apply for the position of police chief following the June 25 retirement of Frank Hernandez. Detective Sebastian Veneziano has been named the interim chief, a move that Hunt said left him wondering why he wasn’t considered.

No disiplinary action in 23 years is the reason why that police department is run the way it is! A fat JOKE! Hunt and a crowd of others dont deserve to wear a badge up there.
Thank you Manager Lowry for being a man of your word and laying down the law on them crooks. I sure hope the next chief up there fires a crowed of them lazy bumbs.
