LUMBERTON — Katherine Loretta Bethea of Lumberton received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest civilian award in the state given to an individual with a proven record of service, during her retirement celebration at the O.P. Owens Agriculture Center.

Bethea, a 40-year employee for the N.C. Department of Commerce who retired from being the supervisor of the Job Training Partnership Act program, also received a State of North Carolina Certificate of Retirement as well as the North Carolina House of Representatives Certificate of Acknowledgement and Congratulations the same day.

FAYETTEVILLE — Carmin Russ recently joined Cape Fear Farm Credit, an agricultural lending cooperative, as a loan assistant in the Lumberton branch office.

Russ is a 2008 graduate of Southeastern Community College and a 2010 graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College. Before joining Cape Fear Farm Credit, she worked at a commercial bank.
