Opportunities

Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered program that gives people the resources and relationships to help recover from life's hurts, habits, and hangups, meets at Berea Baptist Church in Pembroke each Friday at 7 p.m. in the old sanctuary.

The Supernatural Abundance of Rain Ministries invites everyone to Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 11. The ministry is at 2605 N.C. 130 West, Rowland. The pastor is Harold Dwight Jones.

Special events

East Lumberton Freewill Baptist Church will host a free hot dog lunch for the community on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. A Roseboro gospel group, Heaven’s Bridge, will sing. Everyone is invited. The church is at 101 Hollywood Drive.

First Baptist Church of Lumberton will have its annual barbecue plate sale and cake auction on Nov. 20. Proceeds will support youth ministry trips.

Plates will include barbecue, baked beans, slaw, bread and dessert. Plates are available for lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and for dinner from 4 to 7 p.m.

You may come inside, have dinner and bid on a cake, or simply drive up for curbside service.

The church is at 6th and Walnut Streets.

Pastor Appreciation and Old-Fashioned Day will be Nov. 1 at Benson Chapel Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to worship and fellowship with the church family, and to say thank you to Pastor Johnny and Shannon Locklear.

The United Methodist Women at Trinity United Methodist Church, Fairmont, will have a Food Fair Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Homemade cookies, cakes, candy, casseroles, sausage balls, homemade Brunswick stew, soup and lots of other items will be available. A silent auction will include a steak dinner for two, a handmade basket, a travel bag, purses, a wallet and a special cake baked by Pastor Harold Salmon. Coffee is free. The United Methodist Men’s plate sale at Prospect United Methodist Church will be Nov. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Half-chicken plates and barbecue plates will be on sale and available for dine-in or take-out. Proceeds will be used for needy projects in the Prospect community.

Anointed Believers Ministries is have a plate sale today until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chicken plates are $6, chicken sandwiches at $3, fish plates $6, fish sandwiches $3, barbecue plates $6, barbecue sandwiches $3 and combination plates are $7.

Solid Rock Ministries, Inc. will have its third annual convocation Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., and Nov. 8 at 10 a.m.

The convocation will be at the St. Joseph Miracle Revival Center, 4657 Daniel McLeod Road, Red Springs.

Music

The McNeills will be at Liberty Holiness Church on Sunday in the 11 a.m. worship hour. Pastor Tim Holden and the congregation invite everyone.

The Pentecostal United Holy Church’s Senior Choir will celebrate its 80th anniversary Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to the celebration. The church is at 2300 Gavintown Road, Lumberton.

The Young Adult Choir at Turner Station AME Church, Marietta, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Nov. 7. The program will feature The Gospel Four of Parkton. The anniversary celebration will conclude with a program on Nov. 8 featuring the honorees and other choirs from the area. Everyone is invited.

Revivals

Revival at Five Forks Baptist Church will be Sunday at 7 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. James Todd of Latta, S.C., will be the speaker.

Northside Independent Church, Lumberton, will have revival services Nov. 8-11. The Revs. Freddie Gibbs and Johnny Locklear will be the speakers.

The Sunday service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the services on Monday through Wednesday evenings will begin at 7:30.

Fall Events

Morning Star Community Church invites everyone to the third annual Youth October Drama Fest today at 7 p.m. Trunk-a-treat will be after the service. Everyone is reminded to bring their treat bags. The church is at 702 Dunn Road, Lumberton.

The Youth October Fest at New Beginning Church of Lumberton is today at 4 p.m. There will be a children’s praise service, prizes, games and candy treats.

The church is at 3485 Fayetteville Road.

Oak Grove Baptist Church, 6901 N. Chicken Road, will have a Fall Festival on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be hay rides, door prizes, candy, games, singing, food and fun for all ages. Admission is free. Everyone is invited to gather around the bonfire. For information, call 738-5888.

Zion’s Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3496 Tar Heel Road, Lumberton, invites everyone to its fall festival Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be plenty of food for the whole family, games, cake walks, lots of candy for the children and Christian fellowship. A Fall Festival and yard sale will be Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Life Line Church of God. Items for sale will include: homemade crafts, jellies, boiled peanuts, baked items, and large-size ladies clothes.

Barnesville Baptist Church is having a Holy-Ween night Saturday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There will be games, prizes, candy, cake walks and a greased-pig chase. There will also be a black light show.

Hot dogs, drinks and chips will be on sale, but admission to this event is free.

Benson Chapel Baptist Church will host a fall festival and carnival Saturday at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Centerville Baptist Church will have its fall festival Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. Trunk-n-treat starts at 5 p.m., followed by a hot dog supper and cake walk. Everyone is invited.

Reedy Branch Baptist Church, Fairmont, will have Trunk-or-Treat Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. There will be food, fun and fellowship.

Bethesda United Methodist Church’s annual bazaar and barbecue plate sale will be Nov. 7. The bazaar begins at 10 a.m. Barbecue plates, available for eat it or take out, will be sold from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The bazaar will feature: a silent auction, homemade quilts, Christmas decorations and specially crafted wood items. There will be a Grand Food Court featuring casseroles, desserts, homemade soup, canned goods, candies, sourdough bread and lots of other goodies.

A nursery will be provided for children 4 years and younger from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church is in the Barnesville community at 8414 South Creek Road, Orrum.

The Galilee Baptist Church WMU will sponsor a Missions Carnival at 702 E. 4th St., next to the Maxway store in Red Springs on Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be free food, refresments and games will be provided.

Godwin Heights Baptist Church will have its third annual bazaar Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be baked goods, crafts, collard sandwiches, chicken and rice and much more.

All proceeds will go to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church’s trustees and laymen will have a fish fry Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spots will be served on the plates, and plates will be $6 each. Fish sandwiches will be sold for $3. The church is at 2060 Turkey Branch Road, Fairmont.

Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church will have a plate sale Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Barbecue, chicken and combination plates will be available. Appreciation

Outreach Family Fellowship announces the 27th Pastoral Appreciation banquest honoring Apostle Michael and Louise Goings on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. This will be an evening of fine dining and fellowship

at the Outreach Family Fellowship. The banquet will be in the Charles L. Berry Family Life Center, 138 Pee Dee Church Road, Dillon, S.C.

Conference

Accept Christ Fellowship Church will host a Men’s Conference at 5 p.m. Sunday. The conference will be at Grace Outreach Ministries, 318 S. Main St., Fairmont.

Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church will host a Women’s Mission Week Conference Nov. 8-13. The conference will start at 4 p.m. on Nov. 8, and will continue each evening at 7. The church is at 3698 Pine Log Road, Lumberton. For information, call Bishop George Matthews, 739-0205 or 536-9283.

Anniversaries

The Greenville Baptist Church family will celebrate the 104th anniversary of their church on Nov. 8. A service will be at 4 p.m., and Dr. J.G. Everette, pastor of Mill Branch Baptist Church, will be the speaker.

Fundraisers

Tabernacle Baptist Church, N.C. 711 Pembroke, will have a benefit singing and plate sale today. The plate sale begins at 11 a.m., and chicken and barbecue plates will be served.

The benefit singing will start at 7:30 p.m. Singers will include: Wendy and The Locklear Brothers, The Singing Revelations, Nadene and Stevie, and The Mt. Hebron Praise Team.

Elrod Baptist Church’s Haiti Mission Team will have a car wash and yard sale on Saturday. The fundraisers will be from 8 a.m. until noon at Burger King in Pembroke. All proceeds will pay for tickets, motel rooms and expenses for two mission teams from the church.

Community events to benefit 5-year-old Mataysha Hardin, who lost her mother in an automobile accident in September, will be Nov. 6-8.

The family will have a plate sale beginning at 11 a.m. Nov. 6-7 at Freedom Assembly of God in Red Springs. Barbecue and chicken plates will be available.

A motorcycle run will be Nov. 8, and will leave from C&P Mini Mart in Pembroke. Registration for the bike run will be from 1 to 2 p.m.

All money raised will be used for funeral expenses and a trust fund for Mataysha.

The WMU at Good News Baptist Church will sponsor a craft bazaar Nov. 6-7 beginning at 9 a.m. at Walter’s True Value Hardware, 1107 N. Main St., Bladenboro.
