City man shot, dies

LUMBERTON — A 53-year-old Lumberton man has died from wounds he suffered when he was shot Thursday morning, according to Lumberton police Capt. Johnny Barnes.

Moses Robinson Jr., of 905 E. 10th St., had just returned home when he was shot in the front yard at about 1:35 a.m., according to Barnes. He said Robinson’s wife, Bernice Robinson, 52, was inside the home when she heard a gunshot, looked outside and saw her husband laying in the front yard of their home. She then called 911.

The victim was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Detective Charles Leavitt is investigating. Lumberton police are asking anyone with information to call the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845. Callers can remain anonymous.
