At the North Carolina Museum of the Cape Fear, it’s not just the campfires that are heating up.

The eighth annual Civil War Quiz bowl will take place in Fayetteville Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. The event tests knowledge of people and events of the battle between the states. It will also host a living history exhibit on the grounds starting Jan. 25.

This year, the contestants will be split into two categories and a prize will be offered to the winner of the adult category, and the winner of the under 18 category. The museum expects 85-90 people to participate. Reservations are recommended and are accessible by calling the museum at (910) 486-1330.

“It has steadily grown over the years and is getting pretty popular,” said Chris Woodson, an educator at the museum.

The living history exhibit will include the sights and sounds of an authentic Civil War camp. Jan. 25. The exhibit is located near the arsenal and will have several tents on display, musket fire and camp cooking demonstrations.

The museum is located at 801 Arsenal Ave., Fayetteville.
