ST. PAULS — A 51-year-old St. Pauls man who spent more than 14 years in prison after being convicted of murder was arrested recently on drug charges.

He was released on $20,000 bail.

McArthur was sent to prison after being convicted of second-degree murder in the May 12, 1995, shooting death of 27-year-old Robert Wayne Dial. An article in The Robesonian on July 8, 1998, said Dial was murdered as he was driving the vehicle because of a drug deal that had gone bad. McArthur entered into a plea agreement and served the minimum sentence of 14 years, five months and was released on Jan 12 of this year.

McArthur had also previously been charged with five counts of felony possession with intent to sell drugs, felony manufacture of drugs, and two counts of misdemeanor resisting an officer.
