Council’s gaming fees put a lot of people out of work

To the Editor,

I can’t understand the Lumberton City Council and its views and outrageous fees on video poker while they have no problem with the state lottery. They imposed a $2,500 fee on each machine and that put a lot of places out of business and probably left approximately 100 people out of work. And people wonder why we are the poorest county in North Carolina.

People are going to gamble and we or I don’t need some idiots telling me I can’t. If you would have made it so each business would have given schools and Police Department $25,000 a year it would have helped a lot.

Thanks council for nothing.
