Guardsman's home hit by thieves

PARKTON - A 39-year-old National Guardsman returned home from Iraq on Tuesday to find $10,300 in items missing from his property.

According to the sheriff's report, Floyd Leverne Davis of Glen Road had been in Iraq since August. Upon returning home he found that someone had pried open a door and stolen two motorcycles, a lawn mower and fishing equipment.

Man charged with 6 felonies

RED SPRINGS - McClelland Locklear, 28, of 552 Dixie Road, was arrested and charged with six felonies on Tuesday.

Locklear faces two counts of larceny of a firearm, two counts of breaking and entering, and two counts of larceny after breaking and entering. Locklear was jailed under a $24,000 bond.

Pair faces charges on drug violations

PEMBROKE - Eric Jonathan Chavis, 28, and Beth Ann Webb, 27, of 233 Doe Trail Road in Lumberton, were arrested on drug charges during a routine traffic stop.

Chavis and Webb were both charged Tuesday with felony possession with intent to sell and distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, felony conspiracy to sell and distribute Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chavis was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond, Webb under a unsecured bond.

Shannon man arrested for assault

LUMBERTON - A Shannon man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, misdemeanor breaking and entering and first-degree trespassing.

William Alton Maynor, of 605 Hawk Drive, was jailed under a $57,000 secured bond.
