Crime Reports for Nov. 17
LUMBERTON — Gregory McGirt, 33, of 33 Country Lane, was arrested on Sunday and charged with attempted first-degree murder, according to a sheriff’s report.
He was being held under a $100,000 bond.
LUMBERTON — Gwendolyn Melvin, 23, of 694 Campbell Terrace, Fayetteville, was arrested on Friday and charged with forgery and counterfeiting, according to a police report.
She was being held under a $5,000 bond.
PEMBROKE — Angela Oxendine, 49, of Seneca Street, reported on Friday that someone broke into her home and stole $1,430 in televisions, $600 in clothing, and $130 in boots, according to a sheriff’s report.
Damage to a back door was $100.
LUMBER BRIDGE — Wayne’s Wheels, of N.C. 71, reported on Friday that someone broke into the business and stole $3,000 worth of tires and rims and $750 worth of radiators, according to a sheriff’s report.
Damage to a fence was $300.
PEMBROKE — Leo Woods, 65, of Woods Road, reported on Friday that someone broke into a farm building and stole $1,755 in tools and $105 in cables from his 1994 Toyota truck, according to a sheriff’s report.
MAXTON — John Campbell Jr., 37, of Missouri Road, reported on Friday that a man and a woman armed with a knife robbed him in the parking lot of the C and P gas station on N.C. 71, according to a sheriff’s report.
Campbell suffered minor injuries. They took a $500 cellular phone and $350 in cash.
FAIRMONT — Judy Cummings, 54, of Hope Lane, reported on Friday that someone stole $1,350 in jewelry and $300 in cash from her home, according to a sheriff’s report.
LUMBERTON — Jamie Hunt, 37, of Bovine Drive, reported on Saturday that someone broke into her home and stole $7,000 in jewelry, according to a sheriff’s report.
MAXTON — Dewey Deese, 20, of Preston Road, reported on Saturday that someone shot into a 2004 Honda Accord that belongs to Nora Barton, 70, of the same address, while he was driving on Deep Branch Road, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deese was not injured. Damages were $500 to a rear bumper, $150 to a tail light, $150 to the front dashboard, and $150 to the rear seat.
SHANNON — Wardell Burnette, 82, of Rennert Road, reported on Saturday that someone stole a $1,000 generator from a storage barn, according to a sheriff’s report.
ROWLAND — Kenissa Bird, 29, of Biggs Road, reported on Friday that someone threw rocks at her 2007 Chevrolet Aveo while she was driving on U.S. 74, according to a sheriff’s report.
Damages were $500 to a rear door and $500 to a rear quarter panel.
LUMBERTON — Steven McLean, 32, of 11th Street, reported on Saturday that someone broke into his property on Long Branch Road and stole $1,160 in copper wire and a $20 hammer, according to a sheriff’s report.
Damage was $450 to the walls.
MAXTON — Sonier Chavis, 60, of McGirt Road, reported on Sunday that someone broke into his home on Sunday and stole $1,400 in belt buckles, $600 in fishing reels, and $375 in quarters, according to a sheriff’s report.
MAXTON — Campbell Soup on N.C. 71 reported on Sunday that someone ran a vehicle into the fence of a spray field on Oxendine School Road, according to a sheriff’s report.
Damage was $2,500.
LUMBERTON — Robert Williams, 61, of T and P Road, reported on Sunday that someone broke into his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway and stole $575 in tools, a $300 gun, and $8 in coins, according to a sheriff’s report.
LUMBERTON — Mary Ivey, 53, of Bunny Trail Lane, reported on Saturday that someone broke into her home on Rudolph Road and stole $3,000 in clothes, according to a sheriff’s report.
LUMBERTON — Christopher Pridgen, 37, of Powersville Road, reported on Sunday that someone broke into a shelter and stole a $500 radiator and a $500 German shepherd from his yard, according to a sheriff’s report.
Damage to a back door was $600.
LUMBERTON — Richard Kent, 53, of Centerville Church Road, reported that someone broke into his carport and stole a trash can filled with fishing poles, according to a sheriff’s report. They were valued at $1,000.
SHANNON — J’s Mini Mart on N.C. 71 reported on Saturday that someone broke into the business and stole $100 in cash and $40 in cigarettes, according to a sheriff’s report.
Stolen but recovered was $800 in chain saws. Damage to a cash register was $1,000.
MAXTON — Betty Hammonds, 51, of Blackfoot Trail, reported on Sunday that someone stole her 1997 Chrysler Town and Country van from her yard, according to a sheriff’s report.
It was valued at $4,000.
LUMBERTON — Richard West, 40, of Sixth Street, reported on Saturday that someone stole his 2000 Yamaha dirt bike from his home, according to a police report.
It was valued at $500.
LUMBERTON — Tienda Latina Emanuel on Elizabethtown Road reported on Saturday that someone broke into the business and stole property, according to a police report.
Missing were $4,000 in phone cards, $3,100 in computers, $80 in blankets, and $20 in cash. Damage to a door was $50.
LUMBERTON — Harrietta Johnson, 51, and Michael Smith, 54, of Peachtree Street, reported on Sunday that a gunman came into their house and stole property, according to a police report.
Missing were $200 in cellular phones and $125 in cash.
LUMBERTON — Juanita Hotard, 59, Michelle Howell, 34, and Ann Lindsey, 46, of Florida, reported that someone went into their hotel room at Comfort Suites on Wintergreen Drive and stole a total of $560 in cash from their purses, according to a police report.
