LUMBERTON — Alvie Chavis, 39, of 87 Riley Circle, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretenses, according to a sheriff’s report.

He was being held under a $1,000 bond.

LUMBERTON — Sintino Hunt, 16, of 109 Anna Drive, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny, according to a sheriff’s report.

He was released under a $5,000 unsecured bond.

RED SPRINGS —Shamael Elleber, 19, of 157 McBridge Road, was arrested on Monday and charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny, and safe cracking, according to a sheriff’s report.

He was being held under a $5,000 bond.

PARKTON — William Owens, of Council Road, reported on Wednesday that a man broke into the home of Simeon Canady, 61, also of Council Road, and tried to steal $1,600 worth of guns, according to a sheriff’s report.

The guns were recovered after burglar dropped them in the driveway when fleeing in a green Chrsyler van after Owens tried to stop him.

ORRUM — Jennie Legendy, 45, of Clearwater, Fla., reported on Wednesday that someone stole her 2000 Ford F150 truck from Mercenary Road, according to a sheriff’s report.

It was valued at $5,500. Deputies found the vehicle later that night at the Sunset Mobile Home Park in Lumberton.

FAIRMONT — Boyce Stephens, 54, of Stone Road, reported on Wednesday that someone broke into his barn and stole $800 worth of tools and a $200 weed eater, according to a sheriff’s report.

MCDONALD — Keystone Builders in Raleigh reported on Wednesday that someone broke into a construction site on Price Road near Fairmont and stole $1,250 worth of copper, according to a sheriff’s report.

Also missing were $100 in aluminum vents, $80 in nails, and $25 in caulk.

PEMBROKE — Herman McGirt, 83, of N.C. 710, reported on Wednesday that someone broke into his home and stole $3,000 in jewelry, according to a sheriff’s report.

PEMBROKE — Preston Lee, 57, of Philadelphius Road, reported on Tuesday that someone broke into his home and stole $4,000 cash, according to a sheriff’s report.

Damage to a door and frame was $250.

MAXTON — Winford Locklear, 54, of Treasure Drive, reported on Wednesday that someone broke into his home and stole property, according to a sheriff’s report.

Missing were a $360 ring, $300 gun, $130 in cash, and a $10 ammunition box.

LUMBERTON — Lumberton’s Electric Utilities Department on Halsey Street reported on Wednesday that someone broke into a power station on Bullard Street and stole $100 in copper wire, according to a police report.

Damage to a control panel was $7,500.

LUMBERTON — Trinity Piping Mechanical Inc. on Kenny Biggs Road reported on Wednesday that someone broke into the business and stole a $2,000 welding machine, according to a police report.

Damages were $150 to a fence and $20 to a lock.
