Dark Water Rising has chance to perform at Bonnaroo

MANCHESTER, Tenn. — Local band Dark Water Rising needs your help to be able to perform with the likes of Eminem, Lil Wayne and Loretta Lynn this summer.



The band is competing in the 2011 Road to Roo contest sponsored by the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, which invites the public to vote for bands they think should win. The deadlineto vote is Friday.



“To be able to perform at this festival will be taking it to the next level for Dark Water Rising,” said Ciera Dial Locklear, a vocalist and keys player for the band. “We put a lot of time and hard work in to what we do. Our music is a representation of who we are and where we come from … The only way to make this a reality is to acquire the support of you and others.”



The competition will award two bands $1,000 and a spot at the music festival Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tenn. The four-day festival will be held June 9 through June 12.



The band, made up of Aaron Locklear, Eric Locklear, Corey Locklear, Charly Lowry, Dial Locklear and Brittany Jacobs, was in 25th place as of Monday morning out of 687 other bands from across the nation.



The top eight bands will face a panel of judges to see who is the final two.



“We are so excited and want this chance more than anything to be able to make it to Bonnaroo,” Dial Locklear said.

“If we are chosen, you will not be disappointed,” Dial said.
