LUMBERTON — The Lumberton area school bands and fans have kicked off their annual fruit sale, which runs until Dec. 7.

Navel oranges, Red Delicious apples, tangelos, tangerines, juice oranges, grapefruits and Golden Delicious apples will be available. Orders can be placed with any band member or parent from Lumberton High School, Lumberton Junior High School or Littlefield Middle School.

Prices range from $21 to $35 a box. Bushel increments will also be sold. The fruit will be delivered Dec. 18.

SADDLETREE — Chrystal McDonald has been named Teacher of the Year and Kim Carter as Teacher Assistant of the Year for Magnolia Elementary School.

McDonald, a sixth-grade teacher, has worked at the school for five years.

Carter, a pre-kindergarten assistant, has taught at Magnolia for nine years.

LUMBERTON — Mckenzie Little, a fifth-grade student at Antioch Christian Academy, has been accepted in the People to People World Leadership Forum in July 2010.

Little is the daughter of Marla and David Little and the granddaughter of Thomas and Linda Little and Marvin and Linda Paul.

SADDLETREE — Magnolia Elementary School will host an open house from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the school.

The fifth- and sixth-graders, band and chorus will perform at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. For information, call the school at (910) 671-6070.

FAIRMONT — There will be a fund-raiser dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald’s in Fairmont for Rosenwald Elementary School.

FAIRMONT — Green Grove Elementary School has named its Terrific Kids for October. Students are selected by grade and behavior.

They are: Preschool, Aliah Brewer; kindergarten, MaKayla Sheridan, Ja Riyah Gaddy, Quentasia McKellar; first grade, Jalyn Locklear, Kevin Akers; second grade, Kaitlyn Hunt, Cale Lowery; third grade, Shayla Hunt, Skyler Oxendine, Jashand Hunt; exceptional children classes, Jeremiah Tyner, Devonta Gilmore; music class, Donavon Brown, MacKenzie Maynor, Ashlynn Sanderson, Jayln McLean and Emmanuel Lopez-Ojeda.
