RED SPRINGS — The Hawkeye Indian Cultural Center in Hoke County will hold its 15th annual pow wow on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at noon at 5710 Red Springs Road with dancing and drumming both nights.

There will be food and arts and crafts for sale as well as canoe and kayaks available for rent on the Hogpin Pond. The cost is $10 per boat.

Admission to the pow wow is $5 per person. Youths 5 and younger get in for free.

RALEIGH — The N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh will hold Triracial Movie-going, a presentation examining Jim Crow-era movie-going in Robeson County using newspaper records, photographs and oral histories, on Nov. 14 at 12:10 p.m.

Christopher McKenna, a senior fellow in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will focus on whites, American Indians and blacks who attended movies in Robeson County from 1896 to 1940.

PEMBROKE — The University of North Carolina at Pembroke will allow any person to eat free in the Dining Hall until Nov. 16 with the donation of five canned foods.

The Stop Hunger Food Drive is intended to provide support for local communities and raise awareness about the problem of hunger.
