Lumber River

Day event set

ORRUM — Lumber River State Park will hold Lumber River Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2819 Princess Ann Road.

There will be canoe rides and races, booths and exhibits, a fishing contest for children and a wet T-shirt race, as well as food and ice cream. Attendants are welcome to bring a picnic lunch.

Youth camp

starts July 30

LUMBERTON — Purple Door Productions Studio will hold a Youth Arts Camp from July 30 to Aug. 2 and Aug. 6 to Aug. 9 at 209 N. Elm St.

The camp is available Mondays through Thursdays in three time slots: from 10 to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Students will be able to explore the arts through creative movement, arts and crafts, reading, singing and imaginative performance. The cost is $40 for one session each week; and attendants can choose a single time session or multiple sessions.

NC Rodeo

LUMBERTON — The North Carolina Professional Rodeo Association will hold a rodeo on Friday and Saturday at the N.C. Southeastern Agricultural Center/Farmers Market at 1027 U.S. 74 East. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Events include bare back, saddle bromc, bull riding and steer wrestling, among others.
