Car show set

for Aug. 11

LUMBERTON — Classic Cruisers Car Club will hold “Made in the Shade,” a car and truck show, on Aug. 11 at San Jose Mexican Restaurant at 5039 Fayetteville Road. Registration, which costs $25, is from 8 a.m. to noon, and the cars will be judged at 3 p.m.

Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. All vehicles must be registered.

National Night Out

set for Aug. 7

LUMBERTON — The city of Lumberton and the Lumberton Police Department will hold a National Night Out featuring the band, Big Daddy Drive, on Aug. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Lumberton on the plaza.

The National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen neighborhoods through police-community partnerships in order to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, and to build support and participation in local anti-crime programs.

There will be free hot dogs and ice cream, a fire safe house and police exhibits, as well as swimming in the fountain.
