ORRUM — The rangers of Lumber River State Park will offer two free canoe programs and a nature hike this weekend.

One canoe trip starts at 10 a.m. Friday at Chalk Banks. The other begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Princess Ann access area. Participants must be able to swim. To make a reservation, call the park office at (910) 628-4564.

A nature hike will commence at 1 p.m. Sunday from the Princess Ann access area.

LUMBERTON — Mrs. Stacie will read at 6 p.m. Thursday in a pajama time story hour at the Exploration Station.

There is an admission charge for non-members. For information, call Stacie Kinlaw at (910) 738-1114.

FAIRMONT — A Memorial Day sidewalk sale will be from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday in downtown Fairmont. There will be music, vendors and a ceremony at noon in the Heritage Center.

PEMBROKE — Adult swim lessons will be from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in June at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
