LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center will host four emerging singer/songwriters who will showcase classics from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Smoky Robinson on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for students.

The four featured performers are:

— Chinua Hawk, who has performed with Celine Dion in front of a crowd of 30,000 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He’s also written songs with Wyclef Jean and worked in the studio with producer/rapper Kanye West on rapper Talib Kwelis’ song “Just To Get By.”

— Chris Cauley, who was voted APCA Coffeehouse Artist of the Year.

— Yewande, whose music has captured audiences from BET's “106th & Park” to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and most recently rocked audiences this summer with MTV Dance at the Lake of Stars Festival in Malawi.

— Brandi Sellerz, who has been gaining a following for the last seven years playing in hot spots such as B.B King's, 12th and Porter, and Nashville's most popular urban performance series, LoveNoise. She has also opened for many hit artists, including Anthony David and Eric Roberson.

The artists are also expected to share personal stories and original artistry with the audience.

Tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center with credit card or cash from 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, or by calling the center at (910) 738-4339. Theater lobby box office opens for ticket sales one hour before to performance.
