Glynn McNeill

PEMBROKE — Glynn Michael McNeill, of Pembroke, was called to be with the Lord on Feb. 11, 2013.

Mike was born in Lumberton on March 4, 1955, to Charsie Lee Chavis-McNeill and the late Al Glynn McNeill Jr. Soon thereafter the family moved to Detroit, Mich., which Mike called home for the next 25 years.

The funeral will be 8 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Al Glynn McNeill Jr. and a niece, Breanna McNeill.

Mike is survived by a special friend of 18 years, Evonda Locklear Pardon; his mother, Charsie Lee McNeill; his sister, Judy Lynn McNeill-Krendrick, both of Arizona; two brothers, Rodney Dean McNeill of California and Brian Keith McNeill of Pembroke; his daughter, Nicole Christina McNeill of Michigan; and a granddaughter, Marlena of Michigan.

In June 1974, Mike graduated from Lincoln Park High School. Following the footsteps of his father, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1975; married and had his beautiful daughter, Nicole Christina McNeill.

Mike eventually returned to a place that held many cherished childhood memories, Pembroke, N.C. He made a home here with family and friends. Mike was particularly cherished by extended family.

Those of you close to Mike knew of his passion for music and a talent for the guitar. Mike enjoyed picking up a guitar at any time and playing for anyone who would listen. The guitar provided Mike with the kind of comfort one receives when greeting an old friend.

Mike was the kind of guy everyone called their friend. He had no enemies and was the happiest-go-lucky person you could cross paths with on any given day. His upbeat personality was contagious and as kids like to say “he could turn a frown upside down!” Mike will be sorely missed by so many and our hearts are truly broken that we will not hear his laugh again.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today before the service, and other times will be at his residence at 77 Satin Drive, Pembroke, and also at the home of his cousin Genny and Ron Sutton of the Philadelphus Community.
