To the Editor,
After considering both sides of the Amendment One, it seems that those against it feel it would be a denial of basic civil rights and those for it feel that it would be obeying God’s word. Man did not define marriage between one man and one woman; God did.
Christians believe that in order to be blessed by God and for America to be blessed by God, we must obey His word. That belief is based on scripture. It has zero to do with hatred.
The North Carolina General Assembly members have posted many corrections as to the misconceptions about what the amendment will or will not do. It will have nothing to do with issues concerning changes in domestic violence, insurance, etc. The only thing it will do is change the law from being a statute to being in the NC Constitution so that judges cannot overturn it in court, as they have been proven to do. I will vote for the amendment.
