LUMBERTON — Got a community project that needs money?

The North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program’s grant applications for Robeson County arts organizations will be due to the Carolina Civic Center Foundation by 5 p.m. June 17.

Those who need help with the applications are welcome at the council’s grantwriting workshop on May 13 at 5:30 p.m. on the first floor of Lumberton City Hall at 500 N. Cedar St. in downtown Lumberton. The workshop is free and will address the entire application process, including project criteria, partnering, project narrative and budgeting.

The grants are intended to support local cultural projects and are available to all nonprofit arts organizations in Robeson County. Funding is for projects that will be completed between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010.

Grant applications may be sent by mail to the Carolina Civic Center at P.O. Box 844, Lumberton, N.C., 28359, or delivered to the offices at 315 N. Chestnut St. in downtown Lumberton. No applications received after 5 p.m. June 17 will be accepted.

This year's expected allotment for Robeson County will be $28,584. Grants typically range from $2,000 to $5,000. Information about the Grassroots Arts Project grants can be found at the North Carolina Arts Council Web site: www.ncarts.org.
