Henry Sansbury Huntt III, 75, of Bostic, left this good Earth on Nov. 5, 2012, in his pride and joy, his IROC-Z.
A memorial will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton. The family invites friends to attend. Burial will be determined at a future date.
He was born in Washington, D.C., on March 15, 1937, to the late Henry Sansbury Huntt Jr. and Frances Eleanor Windsor Huntt.
He graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in soil science. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1963. He also graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in civil engineering. He enjoyed history, especially the Civil War. He was an avid reader and trained and participated in 10K and bicycle races. Other favorite pastimes included hunting, photography, playing bridge at the senior center and spending time with his two grandsons, Rodney and Will.
In addition to his parents, Henry III was preceded in death by a brother, William Windsor Huntt.
Hunt is survived by his son, Henry S. Huntt IV, (better known as Benny), of Charlotte; a daughter, Cherie Huntt Nantz and her husband Glenn of Lumberton; two grandsons, Rodney McArthur Nantz and William Henry Nantz of Lumberton; and a brother, Richard Henry Huntt of Maryland.
The visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
