PEMBROKE — J.T. Malcolm, 85, of Pembroke, died Feb. 20, 2013, at the North Carolina State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pembroke. Burial will follow in the Berea Baptist Church Cemetery in Pembroke.

Malcolm was a Purple Heart recipient who honorably retired from the U.S. Army in 1976 after a career that spanned more than two decades and included active duty tours in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, France, and Greece, as well as numerous stateside assignments.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan D. Malcolm.

Survivors include his spouse, Vera Locklear Malcolm of Pembroke; his sons, Caleb A. Malcolm (Kyle) of San Antonio, Texas, Joshua D. Malcolm (Meloria) of Pembroke, Joseph E. Malcolm of Pembroke, James D. Malcolm (Jackie) of Durham, and David Malcolm (Gina) of Broadway; a daughter, Rebecca M. Strongbow of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.
