LRDA cancels
Fall Pow Wow
PEMBROKE — The Lumbee Regional Development Association has canceled its annual Lumbee Fall Pow Wow that was scheduled for the fall, but said plans are to bring it about in 2013.
The LRDA board of directors last week made the decision based on the economy, saying the agency was facing economic difficulties as well as the people who enjoy the pow wow. The decision was announced in a press statement, which said that new activities will be part of the pow wow when it returns in 2013, and there may be a new location.
The LRDA has sponsored the annual event for more than 35 years.
The event in 2008 was also canceled, but it returned the following year.
