FAIRMONT — A South Carolina man was killed Friday in a single-vehicle accident south of town.

Warren Derek Bullock, of Lake View, S.C., died when he failed to stop at a T-intersection and his vehicle struck a ditch, according to Trooper Dwayne Hunt of the state Highway Patrol. Hunt’s report said that Bullock was driving a 2003 Kia SUV south on Rural Paved Road 2478 when it failed to stop at the intersection with 2477 and struck a ditch and then an embankment.

The report said Bullock, who was alone in the vehicle, was traveling 55 mph in the 55 mph zone. The report did not offer an explanation on what caused the accident. The report listed Bullock’s address as being 146 Page Circle, Fairmont, but an obituary The Robesonian received said Bullock lived in Lake View.

The wreck happened about 10 miles south of Fairmont at 6:18 p.m. The report said $4,000 worth of damage was done to the vehicle.
