Gene Otis Hunt, 48, of Fairmont, died Oct. 23, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel in Fairmont. Burial will be in Oxendine Cemetery.
Hunt was born April 9, 1964, in Robeson County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Quessie S. Marks.
He is survived by his father, Cleatious of the home; a brother, Guy Matthew Hunt of Fairmont; two sisters, Brenda Dale Jacobs of Saddletree and Theresa Mizzell of Shannon.
The visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Floyd Funeral Services.

Red Springs
C.W. “Tarpin” Hill, 87, of Red Springs, died Oct. 23, 2012, in Autumn Care of Raeford.
A memorial will be immediately following the visitation in Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel, Junior Willoughby officiating. A graveside service will be Saturday in the Alloway Cemetery.
Hill was born in Robeson County on July 18, 1925, to the late Jesse James Hill and Ira Tanzy Jackson Hill. Hill served in the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII and was a 1st Scout in Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Occupation Medal Germany, Good Conduct Medal, and a National Defense Medal. After returning from WWII, he worked in the textile industry until his retirement. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church and a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone he met.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Doris Lee Willoughby Hill; Ray Hill and his wife Wanda of Raleigh; W.J. Hill and his wife Jeanie of Hamlet; two daughters, Judy H. Allison and her husband Charlie of Bolivia, Mary Lee Wolf of Florida; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great- great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved “Uncle Tarp” dearly.
The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Crumpler Funeral Home in Red Springs.

William McPaul
Red Springs
William Daniel “Bill” McPhaul, 76, of 403 N. Edinborough St., died Oct. 23, 2012, in Carolina Inn at Village Green.
A memorial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Antioch Presbyterian Church in Red Springs, the Revs. Mike McGehee and David Hudson officiating.
McPhaul was a member of the Red Springs Fire Department for many years, serving as chief from 1980 until 1997. He was also a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church. McPhaul also helped start the Red Springs Historical Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy McPhaul of Red Springs; a son, Danny McPhaul of Red Springs; a sister, Frances McPhaul McMillan of Red Springs; three grandchildren, Laney, Kade and Tanner; and six nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the memorial.

Bruce Lyndon Ransom, 60, of 1690 N.C. 710 North, died Oct. 22, 2012, at his home.
The funeral will be 5 p.m. Friday at Revels Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke. Burial will be at a later date.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Stacy of Texas; two brothers, J.D. Oxendine of Charlotte and Mallory Ransom of Reaford; two sisters, Connie Ransom Scott and Dilly Ann Chavis, both of Pembroke; and a grandchild.
The visitation will be 4 p.m. Friday at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Felton Pevia, 72, of 1830 Lombardy Village Road, died Oct. 20, 2012, at his home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Galilee Baptist Church, the Rev. Larry Chavis and Jimmy Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Eyvonnie Pevia of the home; a son, Delton Pevia of the home; two daughters, Darlene Pevia of Red Springs and Sharon Brooks of Parkton; a brother, Burnis Pevia of Lumber Bridge; a sister, Catherine Maynor Locklear of Red Springs; and three grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home.
