Harold Hunt

Harold Lloyd Hunt, 86, of Greencastle, Pa., formerly of Pembroke, died Jul. 28, 2012, at Meritus Hospital.
The graveside will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sandcutt Cemetery in Pembroke.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1925, in Pembroke, Although he lived in Pennsylvania Pembroke was his home and where he wanted to be at rest with his mother and 13 siblings. He passed peacefully at Meritus Hospital in Maryland surrounded by his family on Jul. 28, 2012, after an eight month battle with pancreas cancer.
Harold enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved traveling and experiencing new things. He loved to read and continued his quest to be a lifelong learner until his 80’s. His passions were singing, playing the guitar and his family. He loved to perform and was a great joke and story teller.
He joined the Navy at 17 and traveled the world in WW II where he earned a Bronze Star. After that he took a job at the B&O railroad where he loved working on the trains. He pursued a singing career and traveled all over the US performing at various venues. He recorded a record with the Leon Prima band in New Orleans where he performed at the famous 500 Club on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. His last choice of profession was a professional carpet cleaner. He continued to work until his 70’s. He was very proud of attaining the contract for carpet cleaning for the American Railroad headquarters building in Washington.
He is preceded in death by his son, Tony Hunt; a grandson, Tony Frock; a great-granddaughter, Nikka Jo Savage; four sisters; eight brothers; a son-in-law, Jack Frost; and the love of his life, Argie Hunt.
Harold is survived by three daughters, Tina (Hunt) Frock, Geri (Hunt) Frost, Georgianna (Hunt) “Gigi” Yelton and husband Fred Yelton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Ambrose Lowery
Lumberton
Ambrose Lowery, 64, of 88 Fawn Drive, died Sept. 27, 2012, at the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Revels Funeral Home Chapel in Lumberton, the Revs. James Mitchell Cummings and Roosevelt Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Lowery was born in Robeson County on May 19, 1948, to the late James and Letha Jones Lowery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Workman Lowery
He is survived by three brothers, Delton Lowery and wife Janice, Jerry Lowery and Marshall Lowery; a niece Celia Locklear; special friends, Larry, Pat Chavis and Joey Hucks; and a host of friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton.

Evelyn Graham McLaurin
Red Springs
Evelyn “Gillie” Graham McLaurin, 79, of NC 211, was called to her eternal home on Sept. 23, 2012, at her home after a pre-birthday dinner with her family at a Lumberton restaurant, after which she made a brief tour of Red Springs, where she worked and her early family days.
The funeral will be 2 p.m.today at Saint Joseph Miracle Revival Center, the Apostle Anthony Buie officiating. Interment will follow in the Panthersford Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1933, in Robeson County and was the daughter of the late Cleveland Douglas and Leola Thompson. She attended the public schools of Robeson County and was a former employee of Flora McDonald College and Autumn Care Retirement Center. For many years, she owned and operated McLaurin Janitorial Services. She was known as an excellent cook and sold cakes and pies in the town of Red Springs and around Robeson County.
Evelyn was joined in holy matrimony to the late Seba McLaurin Sr. owner and operator of McLaurin Plumbing Services and an officer in Panthersford Presbyterian Church. She was an active volunteer with the Robeson County Church and Community Center. She was also president of the Willing Workers Missionary Group and a member of Townsend Chapel Bible Church of God, where she served faithfully and was loved dearly until her health begin to fail.
Evelyn’s wonderful personality and smile won the hearts of many across the entire Red Springs community. She love to talk, and never met a stranger.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Williams of Laurinburg and Patricia M. McMillan (Douglas) of Lumberton; three sons, Seba M. McLaurin Jr. (Mary) of Raleigh, James W. McLaurin and Micheal A. McLaurin, both of New York; a brother, William “Duley” Graham of New York; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home and One hour before the service at the church.

James Eric Hammett, 43, passed away Sept. 28, 2012, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Pauls Funeral Home Chapel, the Pastor David Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Faircloth Cemetery in Autryville.
He is survived by his father, James Earl Hammett; his mother, Diane McArthur; his wife, Amanda Hammett; four sons, James, Eric, Jackson, Noah Hammett; two daughters, Christy & Crystal Hammett; four brothers, Shannon and Michael Hammett, Chris and Brandon McArthur; two sisters, Brenae Dunaway, Katrina Summerville; and two grandchildren.
The visitation for family and friends will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
