RALEIGH — A Maxton man was sentenced Wednesday for illegal possession of a firearm, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Glenn Clark, 48, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 16, according to the statement. Clark was found guilty of possessing the weapon while committing another crime, drug trafficking.
Clark’s case was part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative which focuses on gun crimes and targets repeat offenders, according to the statement.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Thomas B. Murphy prosecuted the case.
