ST. PAULS — A St. Pauls man was shot during a home invasion Saturday morning, according to a sheriff’s report.
Joshua Lowery, 24, of Edge Grove Circle, was shot in the stomach when trying to escape two gunmen who had forced their way into his home, according to the report.
The report said that at Cody Blount, 19, also of Edge Grove Circle address, heard a noise at the back door of the home at about 3 a.m. When he went to investigate, two masked men, each armed with a weapon, pushed a door open.
One of the men told Blount to “be quiet or you will die” and then forced him into the living room, where there were six other people, according to the report. The intruders asked for money, but instead took the keys of a 2003 Jeep Cherokee that belonged to Stephanie Ketron, 37, of Sand Clay Road.
The report said Lowery told the gunmen that they “didn’t have to do this” and one of the men shot his gun into the floor and said, “We’re not playing.”
Lowery tried to run into his bedroom and two shots were fired, one striking Lowery. Blount fled the house and called 911 from a nearby residence on Applewood Circle. He told sheriff’s deputies he saw the two gunmen drive off in the Jeep, which was valued at $10,000.
Lowery was in fair condition at Southeastern Regional Medical Center on Monday. Nobody else was injured.
