LUMBERTON — A 24-year-old Parkton man was found shot to death in his home on Saturday, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Doyle Kyle James, of 266 Stolz Road in Parkton, was found at about 9:40 on Saturday morning by his father, Doyle Horace James, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch.
James had come by to pick up his son to go to breakfast, Branch said. When his son didn’t answer the door, James entered the home and found him dead on the floor.
Branch said investigators are waiting on results from an autopsy. Detective Forest Obershea is leading the investigation.
James’ death is the second to occur in the county in four days that is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office..
Bernell Jap Locklear, 71, was killed “next door to his home” at 2386 St. Anna Road in Pembroke, Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said.
Sealey said his investigators have a “person of interest” in Locklear’s death, which they are calling a murder, but are waiting on autopsy results before releasing the details on how he died.
He said that Lt. Reggle Strickland is the lead investigator for the Sheriff”s Office, and that Strickland is being helped by the State Bureau of Investigation.
