I moved to Lumberton over two years ago from South Carolina. I have lived in the area of N.C. 211 and Dogwood Estates since that time.
I have watched as drug dealers stand outside all night long, dealing drugs. I hear gunshots at least twice a week, and have watched ambulances, police officers, and volunteers remove countless bodies from the trailer park.
I am afraid to let my children play outside. I have bullet holes in my home. Yet, I never read about any of these incidents in The Robesonian. It seems as though the Dogwood Estates problem is being ignored.
My husband and I are paying mortgage yet we are too afraid to even go outside and mow our grass. Last summer in the span of two weeks, I watched a man lay in the middle of N.C. 211 and die from a hit-and-run suicide. I saw a man after he was shot in the head over a drug deal gone wrong and watched as police and emergency workers removed several other bodies. When will this stop? What do we need to do to remedy the problem?
Does anyone care about the decent hardworking people who have to live near Dogwood Estates? My neighbors and I are sick of living in fear and it is time someone with authority start caring about the violence and crime that is coming from Dogwood Estates.
So I beg law enforcement: Please help us. Eventually one of our innocent children is going to end up hit with a stray bullet in their head or worse.
