National media fed us with lies on effects on Amendment One

To the Editor,

Did anyone notice during the run up to the primary on Tuesday, May 8, the deception that was attempted on the public? The media warned us of all the loss of benefits, increase of domestic violence, harm to single parents and children that would occur if Amendment One was approved, but none of that was in the amendment. Why, Bill Clinton called with a recording twice to let me know how bad Amendment One was going to be for North Carolian. I knew it was true then.

Thank God for the victory on Amendment One. Thank you for supporting it with your vote,. God bless you. Maybe the lies that was used here will open folks eyes to the deception that is being perpetrated on us by the national media every day.

By the way, in his evolving view, Obama said he was disappointed with the amendment.

Still waiting for examples of horror stories that resulted from the other 30 states passing marriage amendments. As the writer of this letter stated, I haven't heard of any taking place here in NC in the last month either.

What people don't understand about Amendment One is that it was a bundled package. By a legal standpoint, the issue of domestic violence in non-married couples in the eye of the law is left in a grey area--ask any practicing attorney.

Marriage doesn't define a family.
