LUMBERTON —Nellie Elizabeth Taylor Brown, 87, of Lumberton, passed away Jan. 23, 2013, at her residence.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, the Rev. Joe Bounds officiating.

She was born in Cuba, N.Y., on May 17, 1925, to the late Harry C. Taylor and the late Jenny Tucker Taylor.

She previously worked for Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elroy Brown; two brothers, Hazen Taylor and Hubert Taylor; a sister, Gretchen; a great-grandson, Jordan Stoddard; and a stepgrandson, Sean Brown.

Brown is survived by her son, William Gayhart of the home; two stepsons, Phil Brown and wife Connie of Wilmington and Robert Brown and wife Michelle of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Deborah Floyd and husband Llewellyn of Cuba, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Mary Manning of Mechanicsville, Va., and Carol Thornley and husband Roger of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Thomas Taylor of Cuba, N.Y.; her sisters, Roberta Taylor of Olean, N.Y., Norma Gallagher of Allegany, N.Y., and Jady Peters of Carson City, Nev.; her grandchildren, Shawn and wife Valerie, Michelle, Sherree and husband Kevin, Kari, Jay, Stephanie, Charlie, and Valerie; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St. in Lumberton.
