Patient upset with the cost of shots during SRMC stay

To the Editor,

My husband had a stay at Southeastern Regional Medical Center for about four days. When asked if he wanted the flu shot and the pneumonia shot, he agreed to both not knowing the cost. He is a veteran and when we got the bill, my mouth hit the floor.

He was charged $83 for the flu shot plus $32.86 for an administrative fee. For the pneumonia shot the charge was $316.58 and the administrative fee was $32.86. My question: Is SRMC for Robeson County people or the ones with pen and paper in hands at all times?

When my husband called later to get copies of his stay, he was charged $26.25. In this day and time with people losing homes, lives, and all that they hold dear, SRMC wants to take it all away.

I am upset with the system.

All hospitals are that way. One Tylenol pill runs like $8. They have to make their money off of people with insurance to cover losses by people who don't have insurance or government insurance.
