ST. PAULS — Lawmen are looking for a 15-year-old girl who was reported missing after she did not come home from school on Wednesday.

Kayla Locklear, of Powers Lake Road, apparently did not ride the bus from St. Pauls High School on Wednesday and was reported missing at 4:40 p.m. on that day by her mother, Betty Locklear. A St. Pauls police report said Kayla was last seen with a group of people in the Stack Street area on Thursday at about 9 p.m.

St. Pauls police Capt. Brent Atkins said that police changed her status from a missing person to a runaway after police saw her on Thursday. According to Atkins, Kayla fled when she saw police that day.

According to Kayla’s aunt, Erline Locklear, whose telephone number was on the police report, her niece has run away before and gone to her father’s home in Lumberton.

If anyone has information on Kayla’s whereabouts, call the St. Paul police at (910) 865-5155 or the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 671-3199.

Considering the recent event that happened in Fayetville with the Davis child, how could anyone act so non-shalont about a child. Yes, she is 15, yes she has done this before, That has no bearing on the fact that she is a child and needs to be found. Look for the child as soon as they are relized missing.
