The Golden Tornadoes (14-8) led 28-22 at halftime before erupting for 54 points in the second half.
Shyheim Hines and Shemar Barfield added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Fairmont (14-3). Charlton Townsend finished with seven points and seven rebounds in his first game of the season coming off of a foot injury.
On the girls’ side, Anasia Evans’ 20 points wasn’t enough as the Lady Golden Tornadoes were edged by East Bladen, 47-45.
Na’Jewel Ingram chipped in 16 points for Fairmont (9-8).
Swett grapplers fall short to Raiders
PEMBROKE — In a see-saw Southeastern Conference wrestling dual, Purnell Swett lost a close match to league rival Richmond County, 33-30, at Purnell Swett Wednesday night.
The Rams got off to a quick start with wins by Makayla Oxendine at 106 pounds, Steve Bullard (113) and Dakota Scott (120). The Raiders, however, countered with a string of six wins to pull ahead.
The Rams managed to close the gap but came up short despite wins from Cody Honjonsa (132) Shand Strickland (170), Tristian Jacobs (195) and Aaron Baldwin (285).
