CERRO GORDO — After a dip in offensive production in last week’s 60-18 loss to East Columbus, the St. Pauls football team got back to its high-scoring ways Friday night at East Columbus. The Bulldogs carved up the Vikings defense on the ground and in the air en route to a 56-10 Three Rivers Conference victory.

St. Pauls running back Shawn Williams rushed for four touchdowns with 178 yards on 25 carries while quarterback Kane Banner rushed in a touchdown and threw for two more. Banner racked up 153 yards on 10 carries and threw for 179 yards on 8-of-15 passing.

After taking a 14-2 first-quarter lead over the Vikings (5-5, 2-2), the Bulldogs (7-3, 2-2) exploded for 28 points in the second quarter. West Columbus’ scoring came on a safety in the first and a 6-yard touchdown run from Tanner Daniels in the fourth.

Joining the scoring mix for St. Pauls were Deion Gilchrist and Malik Livingston, who hauled in touchdown passes of 17 and 39 yards from Banner, and Daymien McMillan who punched in a 4-yard score.

Fairmont blanked by Gators, 42-0

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont football team’s senior night went sour quick, as the Golden Tornadoes took a 42-0 thrashing from East Columbus in a Three Rivers Conference game Friday at Hal S. Floyd Stadium.

Fairmont (5-5, 1-3), playing without starting quarterback Jarrod Neal who is out for the rest of the year with an ankle injury, had won the five previous outings against East Columbus (6-4, 3-1) by an average of 22.4 points.

Hoke stomps Swett, 34-14

RAEFORD — The Purnell Swett football team outscored Hoke County in the second half, but it was far from enough.

After falling behind 28-0 in the first half, the Rams strung together a pair of second-half touchdowns in a 34-14 Southeastern Conference loss to the Bucks.

Hoke quarterback Geoffery Thompson led the Bucks with three touchdown runs. SEC-leading running back Detrez Newsome added a pair of scores.

Swett found life on offense in the second half thanks to quarterback Josh Brooks who dove in a 2-yard score and connected on a 15-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Manor.
