LUMBERTON — A South Carolina man already charged with a fire that destroyed storage units in Robeson County was charged with 29 additional counts on Friday, according to Lt. Brian Duckworth of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jonathan Brooks Pressley, of Hemingway, S.C., had been arrested on Jan. 26 after investigators found stolen property at his girlfriend’s apartment complex in Lumberton. He was charged with setting a fire at Noble Storage, at 1600 Starlite Drive, that caused at least $65,000 worth of damage and destroyed 28 out of the 32 units. Investigators said at the time that the damage estimate would grow and more charges would be added as they began taking inventory of all the items stored in the destroyed storage units.

Pressley was charged Friday with 10 felony counts of burning personal property; three felony counts of breaking and entering; three felony counts of larceny; three misdemeanor counts of injury to real property; and 10 misdemeanor counts of breaking and entering and injury to real property.

Duckworth expects even more charges.

The new charges added $87,500 to Pressley’s bond, which had been $101,000. Pressley remains in the Robeson County Detention Center.

Jeremiah Jermaine Weaver, who is also accused in the fire, is currently serving time in South Carolina. Duckworth said that Weaver faces the same charges as Pressley.

Pressley, 31 at the time, was arrested Jan. 26 after lawmen “followed a trail of stolen property” to an apartment complex after a fire was reported at the storage business. The owner of the business, Les Noble, said at the time that he planned to have the units repaired.

Noble Storage also operates 525 storage units at 1402 Linkhaw Road.

Well done! When will we see Mr. Meacher, along with Mr. and Mrs. Greene and their co-conspirators indicted for their crimes? The value of their combined theft far far exceeds the damage done by this arsonist/thief.

Why does the wearing of a suit and tie seem to stifle our rage? The white t-shirt criminal is far less of a threat to the public at large than the suit and tie criminal because his crimes are overt and will result in his quick capture rather than being able to operate his criminal enterprise for years like the suit and tie guys do.

The suit and tie people don't pose an imminent threat to me, my wife or my children.

Make up your mind Ross. You portray your affluent Republican neighborhood as shangri-la where white t-shirt criminals don't dare visit while at the same time you rail against taxes that these suit and tie criminals STEAL for their own use. At least keep some consistency in your arguments...oh wait nevermind, I momentarily forgot your party affiliation.

How about the latest high profile Republican who's decided gay rights are suddenly important since he has a gay son? Too funny the way they swap sides on the issues. If we could figure out a way to give them a poor child instead of a gay one maybe they'd do the same shift on social issues.

The man you are referring to is no Republican, he is what we call a RINO. Republican in name only. JUST LIKE THE TRAITOR COLON POWELL. Maybe if we could get a real Republican who looks like Colon Powell, he'd come back to our party...

We have rules and regs in our party, look em up when you have some free time, they're in the bible...

What is it with these white T-shirts? Do they hand those out at the police station when they take your mug shot? Or is it some sorta fad or something. On the tv show lock-up, all the inmates have white t-shirts so I guess that's what it is, it's a cool thang. Like prisoners also wear there pants lowered to signal a calling sign.

Boy, I'd hate to know prison and jail are where I get my fashion tips.... Simple minds are easily pursuaded.
