To the Editor,

For years people of Lumberton have begged for a local gallery that would show and sell art by area artists. The wait is over. Lazy River Gallery at 3435 Lackey St. is open and waiting for you to come by and visit and shop.

Shawn and Susan Gibson, Shelia Richardson and Linda Oxendine have dedicated themselves to the success of this venture. There have been two opening exhibitions at the gallery within the last month. Attendance has been minimal. Invitations have been sent. Emails have been sent. Personal contacts have been made.

How do you get these people who have been begging to show up and support the efforts of these “starving artists?” Everything Under The Sky is the name of the location, but it takes all the small businesses in the complex to make it a success. There are classes at the facility in pottery and stained glass. There is photography for sale. There are original paintings available. There is jewelry created by several local people. There is art in the form of turned wood. There is a unique selection of pottery by individuals from the Lumberton area.

I encourage you to support Lazy River Gallery and all the artists participating in Everything Under The Sky.

Jim Tripp
