LUMBERTON — If it snows today in Robeson County, and there is a chance it will, don’t expect that there will be enough of the white stuff to craft a snowman.

Little to no accumulation is expected.

But we are used to missing out in Southeastern North Carolina. Parts of the state westward and northward might be more lucky — or unlucky — as a cold front invades from the Southeast. It was already snowing this morning in parts of the state.

In Robeson County, which is now under a winter watch advisory, some snow and sleet is possible this afternoon as temperatures begin to plunge, with the thermometer bottoming out at about 28 degrees overnight. There is a 70 percent chance of precipitation, so it will be wet out there.

Major roads have already been salted by the state Department of Transportation.

The clouds will be gone on Sunday, but it will remain chilly, with a high forecasted to be 45 degrees. The weather will gradually warm up next week.

Rain falls on the Just and the unJust. But it falls more on the Just, because the unJust steal their umbrella.
