St. Pauls woman faces murder charge
PARKTON — A St. Pauls woman is charged with second-degree murder following the shooting death of a Parkton man last week.
Kimothy Locklear, 26, of 737 Crossbow Lane in St. Pauls, is accused of killing Christopher Ray, 30, of 975 Tobemory Road, according to Maj. Howard Branch of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. Ray was shot in the chest on Wednesday and died later that day at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
According to a sheriff’s report, deputies responded to a call at 12:53 p.m. about a shooting in Clarington Court in Parkton, and were flagged down by a man who said he name was Joe and identified himself as being a friend of Ray’s. Deputies found a wounded Ray and the witness, who said his name was Joe, in the street at Clarington Court.
Locklear arrived and told deputies that she “threw the gun into a swamp,” the report said. Branch said Monday the weapon has been recovered.
According to Branch, the shooting occurred during an argument between Locklear and Ray.
Locklear was being held at the Robeson County jail under a $50,000 bond.
