To the Editor,

As the world changes, it is difficult to find a business or organization that goes out of its way to help people. State Employees’ Credit Union really and truly goes above and beyond to helps its members and our communities.

My credit union charges me a $1 a month for a checking account, and instead of them keeping that dollar they give me the option to donate it to a charitable foundation. The SECU foundation has helped build hospice and palliative care centers all across North Carolina, helped build the SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals, and funded scholarships at every public high school and community college in North Carolina. They have given $60,000 in scholarships to Robeson County students alone already this year.

In addition to community involvement, the credit union is constantly adding new programs and services to help people in day-to-day life. Designed to benefit their membership by being affordable and beneficial, SECU offers a range of services from deposit accounts and low interest loans, to free tax preparation, financial counseling, and investment services to helping balance your checkbook. They also have a program to assist members facing foreclosure.

Thank you SECU. Thanks for everything you do to honor your motto of “People helping People” and for making this world a nicer place.

SECU is a great public servant. SECU has helped the Kitty Askin's Hospice Center, Goldsboro, finish a new addition with a $750,000.00 gift. They are also helping build a new hospice center in Johnston Co. These centers and others across the state are staffed with some of the most caring people that can be found. They are "Angels of God", caring, helping, and supporting families during the final hours of a loved one.

Many of us will be prayerfully and eternally grateful for these "People helping People".
