LUMBERTON — Farmers and ranchers have more buying options with the recent opening of Tractor Supply Company, a national retail farm and ranch store chain.
The business, which is located at 3357 Lackey St., opened for business on March 16 and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday. It will be holding a grand-opening sale that ends when it closes today.
“We’re hoping to communicate the mission of Tractor Supply, which is to work hard and have fun,” said Kelly Cameron, the store manager. “We hope everyone thinks of Tractor Supply when they think of their basic farm and ranch needs.”
Tractor Supply Company , which was founded in 1938, is based in Brentwood, Tenn. The Lumberton store has 19,907 square feet and 13 employees.
Cameron was pleased with the turnout at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“It’s good to see the other businesses in the community welcome a new business,” he said. “There was a couple of councilmen, the city manager, Chick-Fil-A, and the Fairfield Marriott Inn right next door to us that came.”
Assistant manager Jessie Eaton said that she is happy to be with the company.
“Business has been good,” Eaton said. “Everybody’s really excited that we’re here and we’re giving jobs to people around here in Lumberton.”
Danny Cook, chairman of the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“We’re excited to have Tractor Supply Company here in Lumberton and doing business here in the community,” Cook said. “We wish them well and hope to see them thrive and do well because that’s what community effort and community goodwill is all about.”

“It add jobs to the county,” Harris said. “We’re an agricultural and business county, so it’s a positive step.”
