Staff report

RED SPRINGS — Two Red Springs teenagers were charged Tuesday in the Aug. 21 burning of a mobile home.

Bryan Devon Lambert, 16, of Harolds Drive, and Marcus Murphy, 17, of Pearsal Road, told investigators that they burned the home and took metal from it to sell to get money to buy clothes for school, according to sheriff’s Lt.. Brian Duckworth.

Lambert is being held on $16,500 bond and Murphy on $31,500 bond at the Robeson County jail on charges of arson, conspiracy and stealing metal from the mobile home. Murphy is also charged with breaking into a store in the Thunder Valley area on the same night as the fire, according to Duckworth.

The mobile home belonged to William Harris, according to Duckworth, who said it was vacant.

Lambert and Murphy were scheduled for their first court appearance on today in Lumberton.
