LUMBERTON — Two 17-year-olds have been charged in a murder that occurred June 27 at Turner Terrace, meaning three teenagers are now charged in the shooting death of Dwight Jordan.

James White Jr., of 1906 E. Seventh St., and Darius Campbell, of Lot 10, Macon Street, were arrested without incident on Thursday at 10:20 a.m. at their separate homes, according to Lumberton police.

Each was charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy. They are being held at Robeson County jail under no bond.

Police Detective Peter Monteiro said information gathered from interviews with witnesses and Edward Alford, 16, who was already charged in the murder, led to the arrests. The 37-year-old Jordan, a Fayetteville resident, was shot to death during an apparent robbery try.

In June, police were called about shots being fired on the 200 block of Spruce Street at the public housing complex. Officers found Jordan lying in a parking lot with a wound to his torso. A police report said that Jordan’s driver’s license, two shell casings, and a bullet were found nearby. Jordan was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. on June 28 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

According to police, 10 shots were fired, some reaching the nearby apartment of a woman and her three young children. They were not injured.

Monterio said that Alford and Campbell were both in Jordan’s 2007 Chrysler Sebring with three other juveniles during a police chase on July 5. The teenagers ditched the vehicle and fled. Information from an informant that Alford was driving the vehicle led to his arrest.

White and Campbell each was charged with felony common law robbery in September 2008 and the misdemeanor of contributing to the delinquency to a minor in August 2008. White was also charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering in November 2008, misdemeanor breaking and entering and larceny in April, and common law robbery last month. Campbell has additional charges of felony breaking and entering in separate cases in 2008, one in March and the other in November.

It was unclear on Friday if any of those cases had been through the judicial system.

Yes,indeed good job.But it is up to the d.a. and the judges to keep these killers in prison not jail. Why let them out on bond when their just going to keep killing people?
